Q: What personalities can my Sims have?
A: Personalities and Life Dreams are unlocked during the Life Dreams & Legacies Quest.
Currently available personalities include:
- Animal Fanatic
Q: Can I give any Sim a personality?
A: Sure! You can give your Sim a personality by accessing the Edit Sim menu from a wardrobe, and selecting one (as in the Select a Personality) menu above.
Doing this will allow your Sim to have Life Dreams for that personality and allow you to work on earning a new Life Orb for that Sim, even if they didn't have a personality selected from birth.
You can change an existing Sims personality through the Life Dreams menu. Note, this will reset any progress the Sim has made on their current Life Dream!
Q: What benefit do my Sims get from these Personalities?
A: If your Sims are assigned a personality, they will have the ability to earn and upgrade Life Orbs, gain bonus XP, and exclusive actions in Sim Town just for that personality.
Q: What are Life Orbs?
A: Life Orbs are unlocked during the Life Dreams & Legacies Quest, where your Sims will find your first Orb in the Park!
Life Orbs act as items in the world; you can move them around in your Home Lots, put them in your inventory, use them to Build or Upgrade some Community Lots (see further along in this FAQ for details), spend them to pause the ageing of your Sim or tap on them to activate the menu to assign the Life Orb to another living Sim.
Life Orbs can also be assigned to babies from the Create A Sim menu accessed through a Crib, by choosing the relative personality.
If "No Life Orb" is selected for that personality, then a new Bronze Life Orb will be earned by the Sim when they fulfil their Life Dream as they grow. However, if the Sim fails to fulfill their Life Dream, they will not earn a Bronze Life Orb at the end of their life.
Q: What are Life Dreams?
A: Life Dreams are life-long ambitions of your Sims. Sims must have a personality assigned to them in order to have Life Dreams.
At the beginning of each Sim's stage of Life, you are able to select one of three Life Dreams for your Sim to work towards.
You can always view your Sim's Life Dream's progress by selecting the "Life Dreams" Tab. Here, you can also rethink your Sim's personality, by clicking the button under their Character Portrait. Remember, when you rethink your Sim's personality, any progress made towards their current Life Dream will be lost!
If your Sim has fulfilled their Life Dream, the Life Orb they drop will be upgraded from what they began their life with.
On the other hand, if your Sim fails to complete their Life Dream before they pass on, all progress made on upgrading the Life Orb will be lost (a Silver Life Orb that is 60% of the way to a Gold Life Orb will revert back to a Silver Life Orb with 0% progress).
Likewise, if a Life Orb is passed from one Sim to another before it's upgrade or current Life Dream progress is complete, the Orb will revert back to 0% progress of it's current state (e.g. A Gold Orb with 60% progress that is given to another Sim will revert back to a Gold Orb with 0% progress).
Q: What levels of Life Orbs can they be upgraded to?
A: Life Orbs will progress in the following order when they are upgraded each time a Sim fulfills a Life Dream:
- Platinum (Pauses aging indefinitely - click here for more info!)
Note, Life Orbs are only able to be upgraded once per the Life Cycle of each Sim.
Only Senior Sims will be able to completely max out their Life Dream to receive a Bronze Life Orb, or upgrade an existing Orb.
If a Sim does not fulfill their Life Dream during their lifetime, their Life Orb will NOT be upgraded to the next level (see above).
Q: How long does it take to upgrade a Life Orb?
A: There is a bar in the Life Dreams menu that will tell you how far along your Sim is (in a percentage) to achieving their Life Dream and upgrading their Life Orb. Once this bar reaches 100%, your Sim has done it!
Your Sims' Life Dreams progress is broken up into phases. These phases signify the amount of total Life Dream progress that your Sim should be able to achieve in each stage of their life (from Toddler to Senior).
Q: My Sim was ready to age before I could max out its Life Dream phase! What do I do now?
A: Don't worry! When a Sim ages up, you still have the chance to continue progressing from where they left off before their Birthday, but you'll also have the next phase cap (maximum progress available for that age) unlocked for the Sim to progress.
For example, if your Preteen Sim ages up before they're able to max out their Life Dream progress for that age, your now Teen Sim will have the Teen phase of the Life Dream unlocked to work on in addition to the remainder of the Preteen phase that wasn't accomplished previously.
Q: What if my Sim completes their current Life Dream phase early?
A: Your Sim will need to age up to continue on with progress (you should see a pop-up letting you know this once the current cap is reached). However, once your Sim's current Life Dream phase is complete, aging that Sim will be FREE, regardless of the stage of life that your Sim is currently at.
Remember though, that once your Sim ages, the cost to age up will be re-applied until the next phase of their Life Dream is complete (when aging up will again be free).
Q: What else can Life Orbs be used for?
A: Life Orbs can be used to build Community Lots on the Mystery Island, and upgrade them! A list of the various Community Lots and their upgrades can be found below. Have a look at our Hobbies FAQ for more detailed information on each of the Community Lots.

Q: What happens when a Life Orb is put towards building or upgrading (e.g. Ice Ape Arcade or the Public Beach)?
A: If you have Life Orbs in your inventory, the upgrade or build screen that you're looking at will recognize them and add them to the total.
You also have the opportunity to select Life Orbs that are already assigned to a Sim to put towards your Building or Upgrade, but the game will warn you that any progress you've made to leveling up that Life Orb to the next level will be lost if it is applied to the Building/Upgrade. This Life Orb will also no longer be applied to that Sim.
Likewise, any Life Orbs that you put towards your Building or Upgrade will be consumed, and no longer available for use.
Q: I don't want to use my Sim's Life Orb to Build/Upgrade anymore! Can I get it back?
A: You still have a chance for your Sims to take back the Life Orbs that they donated for you to use on your Buildings or Upgrades, until the point at which you actually confirm for the Building or Upgrade to be completed.
At this point you will no longer be able to restore the Life Orbs that were donated from those Sims (unless you earn new ones through fulfilling their Life Dreams).
